Seattle at f1.4


I shoot my personal work with Fujifilm camera bodies. Recently I’ve been grabbing the XPro-1 body with Fuji’s stellar 35mm f1.4 “normal” lens. This lens on the Fuji APS-C (“crop”) sensor has the field of view of a 53mm lens used on full-frame format. The wide open aperture of f1.4 creates a super-shallow zone of sharpness. If we are close, you, the viewer, see the subject sharp against a softer surround. Sometimes obvious, sometimes subtle. A Staunton Night


Sometimes I can’t stop. Good music or stimulating events “start me up” and once started I *have* to keep taking pictures. Here’s a Memorial Day concert a little while back in Staunton, VA, where my daughter went to college – fun to photograph people, the band,  and I was way too jazzed to stop and go back to sit, stop. Darker and darker as night finally fell, but Staunton is a great town for mysterious architecture, evocative street scenes. Brick, wood and imposing stonework buildings, cobblestone streets.
